Patricks Road State School P&C Association is the Approved Provider of the Patricks Road State School Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service.  OSHC at Patricks Road is a wonderful service located on school grounds, providing care and supervision for children before and after school and during school holidays.  The service is licensed to provide care for up to 250 students and staffed by a dedicated team of educational leaders with a wide range of qualifications related to the care of children.

Care is available to primary school aged children from Prep to Year 6 from the beginning of the calendar year in which children will attend school.  This means newly enrolled Preps can begin attending vacation care at OSHC as of 1st January, of the year they enrol for Prep.

The P&C OSHC programs incorporate meaningful, fun and educational activities for the children, in a safe and nurturing environment.  The service adopts a culture of learning and reflective practice which enables the educational leaders to support, inform and enrich their decision-making about each child's wellbeing and development. The OSHC team strive for meaningful interactions with the children to support and build their foundation for successful lifelong learning, allowing each child time and space to explore, discover, build relationships, solve problems, create, construct, improvise and imagine.

The service is well resourced with a plethora of games, art and craft materials, sports equipment, books, and toys.  School facilities including the playgrounds, oval and hall are available to OSHC children.  OSHC children also have the opportunity to nurture the community garden and access the many extra-curricular activities within the school ground whilst attending OSHC.  With permission from parents, children are escorted to and from these activities.

OSHC Working Group

The OSHC leadership team is supported by the OSHC Working Group, with the purpose of bringing about closer co-operation between the parents of students participating in the service and staff.  P&C members in the OSHC Working Group are involved in the provision of advice and recommendations to the OSHC Coordinator on issues and concerns in respect to OSHC students and the service.

The Queensland Department of Education and Training is the regulatory authority responsible for administering the National Quality Framework.  Our service has been assessed under this framework and has achieved "meeting" the National Quality Standard.

Menu

Breakfast and a substantial afternoon tea are included in the session fees.  Children are encouraged and assisted in making their own food, whether it be buttering the toast, or choosing what to put on the sandwich. Fruit and vegetables are always available to children if they ever need a quick snack. Our afternoon menu is displayed at the parent's table at the start of each week and is mindfully prepared to allow children to experience a range of different foods.
